The worst day I've ever had at a Beauty Salon! SmartStyle. Talk about Rip-Off. I've gotten perms for years and Never I mean Never has it cost over 60$ My hair is Just past my shoulders. When I went to pay the bill,I was Shocked when she said 'That'll be 114.00$!!please.' OMG! At first I thought she was joking,But I was the only one that saw the humor. Then she explained to how she had used extra bottles of whatever? And that is why it was so much$. Well.Now-- Not once in the 3-hours I was there did this girl say anything about the cost much less if it was o.k. with me that she was adding on all this on to my total bill. I felt like this was some sort of bait and switch scam. Still in Shock,standing at the check out,I told I had never paid over 60$ for a perm and was not going to today either. I calmly ask if I could speak to the manager about this matter . She said she'd call him. So I went over and sat down and waited for about 20min. I then went back up to the desk and ask if they had gotten in touch the manager yet and they said no,That he had not returned ther're phone call. So I ask then if I could get his name and number and I would speak to him. I was told I could not have his name or number and I needed to just pay my bill. I told them was Not going to happen until I spoke with their boss First. I also told them at the same time 'If I took my car to the shop and the price was over 50$ they where to cantact me first before doing the work.'And the same should apply with SmartStyle.
At this point I told them I was going just outside the walmart store entrance and wait until thier boss called back and that I would Not leave until this was hole situation was resovled. 10minutes later the girl 'Ester'that had given me the perm came out and ask me to come back in. I ask>Did you hear from the boss? She said No,But they had come up with a solution. That I would give them 60$cash today and have to pay the rest within the next few weeks. I thought at this point,Well That'll give me time enough to contact thier boss for further review on this matter.
After I gave them my 60$cash,They wrote my drivers license # phone number# ".I then ask them for a reciept,since it was cash and I needed something besides the hand written note they handed me saying that I had paid 60$ NOTE:it was written on a standard order sheet (No Smart Style Letter head--or any company information on it what so ever! That is when things went Way-Bad/. I ask the girl to at least sign the paper she had written since it didn't have a Logo-- as to whom I'd given my Cash to?.She then said that She would NOt sign anything Or even give me her name,the boss' name,
saying that My hair perm was a good enough receipt,.
At this point,I told We'd just have to go back to point 'A' I'd just sit back down and wait for their boss to call back'.
Then they said they would call the police if I didn't leave the store..
OMG-I thought I've never been arrested and This is not a good day to start!
So I left the store No reciept-No-Names or numbers..
This does Not end here,I will be Contacting a Lawyer---& The Media Today,I have nothing to hide Unlike the Employees at SmartStyle/Walmart|.

The first girl I went to did a great job and she was pretty nice and professional. However I did not like the fact that when she saw my engagement ring and found out I was only 20 she started talking about how I shouldn't get married. Whatever she was still a good stylist and I'm very sad that she's no longer working there. Next time I needed a hair cut I went back to smart style only to find out the girl who did my hair before was no longer working. Not a big deal. The girl that did my hair the 2nd time completey butchered my hair cut. I always bring in a picture to show what I'm wanting otherwise I feel like I can't ex plain it right. My cut was uneven, one side was longer then the other and when doing the layers in the back of my head she did one side nice and blended but the other it was like she just cut it straight across. I didn't notice it until a couple days later when I finally straightened my hair and ran my fingers threw it. I was horrified. I took a picture of my hair and it looked nothing even close to what I had showed her. The picture I had brought in the back was slightly shorter then the front and blended very nicely. My hair was cut all one length and the blending of the layers was mediocre. I mean I get that due to texture and everything my hair wasn't going to look exactly like the picture but it wasn't even close to similar. I hadmy fiancées grandmother try and fix my hair (who use to own run and work at a High end salon and does a very nice job) and she even said to me "I don't know what they did here." She spent 20 minutes just trying to fix one section of my hair. I was so upset. I'm never going back again. I hope everyone's experience isn't like mine was. |

She complained about the other stylists the whole time and made faces behind their back. She referred to the father's of her several children as 'sperm donors'. I found it very unprofessional and I could not wait to get out of there. The second cut by her was choppy on one side and the third was IT. The final time I will ever go there. By now she had indeed gotten rid of the other stylist and was talking about 'she's next' referring to a young girl fresh out of beauty school. The face making and mumbling and answering her text messages from potential sperm donors went on during the entire time she totally destroyed any semblance of a balance of hair on my head. When I got home my husbands expression was one of horror. I am so distraught and depressed about what was once my beautiful hair that I could just die. The only consolation is that it will grow out but I need to find someone that can make sense of the different lengths and choppy look and can fix it. I feel so badly for the littl girl that I know will not be there for much longer. Sign me-- Disgusted and appalled |

Smartstyle is not in any way affiliated with walmart. we just rent a space inside walmart (like subway and dunkin donuts do) We are owned by The Regis Corporation. @stylist The price depends on your hair type and length. This is our career. We don't do this for charity. I COULDNT HAVE SAID IT BETTER. WE DON'T DO THIS FOR CHARITY... If the client's hair is past your shoulders it is considered textbook "long" length. which requires a specialty perm wrap and extra chemicals. It also takes more time to wrap, rinse, and remove the rollers. Those perm chemicals aren't free and one application is included but if your hair is LONG then you would have to pay for the extra. $114 Sounds about right for what you had done. If that is too much for you, then maybe you should consider going to a beauty school and getting discounted services by students. When the price of everything rises, so do hair products and services. And again, this is our career. We don't do this for charity. |

They are owned by REGIS just like 90 % of the salon we all go to! Written by Linda Cosby on September 23, 2010 from winchester, kentucky, US I went to smart style in middlesboro kentucky, ask for the bottom of my hair to be layered so that I could flip it out or flip it under, my hair is awful, one side is an inch shorter than the other and not layered cut straight across, like a dummy I have let them ruin my hair this is the 3rd time, 1st time I ask to have my hair trimmed, came home with it at the bottom of my ears, I am suppose to get married Oct 13,now I may have to wait until my hair grows out some to get it fixed, I am so furious. I also paid 18.50 for nothing but a cut, I have my reciept from that time and the 2nd time it was 50 dollars for me and my granddaughter to have nothing but a trim. I want my money back.However, I did learn my lesson this time NOT EVER WALKING IN THE DOOR OF THAT PLACE AGAIN..... |

Written by Shannon Henson on October 18, 2009 from elyria, ohio, US I went to my Smart Styles ( in HObbs NM, the woman who cut my hair is named Carina btw ) yesterday and entered the salon with about 5 inches of hair, I asked for a pixie cut and the woman used buzz clippers on my head and now all my hair is about 1half inch long or shorter in some spots. I am bald. I want my money back and I am trying to work with them but they dont give a crap.
